ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Transform Rockford unveiled the final version of its Community Vision in front of a crowd inside Auburn High School's new field house.
The Transform team has been processing community feedback since it held a vision rally on July 9 at the Coronado Theater.
Feedback came in a variety of forms including an online survey, a tele-a-thon hosted by WREX, website posts and in a series of community meetings. More than 3,000 points of feedback were collected.
Transform Rockford volunteers poured through all the suggestions to finalize the Vision Statement and Impact Statements. Most of the changes were minor. Either words were changed or a sentence added here and there.
Deryk Hayes said he came to the community vision reveal to learn what's next.
"It was good to see that they've brought everything together," said Hayes. "They put it in black and what and people can see it. People have something to put their hope in and think OK, we can transform Rockford."
The next stage of the transformation process is defining the strategy.
Different groups of community leaders will break into teams to help strategize how to realize all the goals laid out after the visioning process.
Transform Rockford is a regional long-term planning initiative aiming to improve the social and economic condition of the Rockford region.
