WASHINGTON (AP) -
Michelle Obama is hitting the campaign trail a month before critical midterm elections to try to help Democratic candidates. The first lady starts campaigning in earnest on Friday by appearing with the gubernatorial candidates in Massachusetts and Maine. She campaigns early next week for the Democratic candidates for governor in Wisconsin and Illinois. Mrs. Obama also plans appearances this month with the Democratic Senate candidates in Iowa and Michigan. Republicans need to pick up six seats to take control of the Senate. President Barack Obama needs the Senate to stay in Democratic hands to have any hope of completing his agenda.
