Rockford's 'Walk to Defeat ALS' will have its second walk

By: Elliot Grandia

More than $100 million has been raised for the national ALS foundation this year.

But tomorrow you have the opportunity to show your support for ALS sufferers and their families in person.

The second "Walk to Defeat ALS" takes place tomorrow at the aviators stadium.

In the last five years the number of ALS cases in the Rockford area has tripled.

Money raised will go toward support groups and research in the Rockford area.

The hope is to someday bring a clinic to the area so patients don't have to travel to Madison and Chicago for treatments.

"There appears to be a growing population in our area, and I believe through awareness, the doctors and neurologists are more able to identify ALS," ALS sufferer, Terry Hall said.

The race starts at 10 tomorrow at the Aviators stadium.

Registration starts at 9.
