With the school year in full swing, students need your help so they don't fall behind in class.
The I READ program through United Way needs more volunteers.
The program is designed to help kids from kindergarten through second grade to improve their reading skills.
A volunteer is paired with the same two kids for 3 years. Their goal is to keep the kids on track so they are prepared for the third grade reading level.
"We're still recruiting more and the volunteers won't start with the student until the end of the month. So certainly if anyone wants to volunteer 20 minutes a week with a student they can pick the day of their choice and help them learn to read," says United Way Volunteer Coordinator Tonya Thayer Meyer.
