ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Getting local manufacturing and aerospace companies more involved in a state-wide organization to promote the future of manufacturing was the goal of a morning meeting in Rockford.
Sen. Dick Durbin and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos were holding a meeting regarding the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute, which is a first of its kind manufacturing hub. It was created by the Department of Defense and designed to create thousands of jobs and improve military readiness.
"But this is so exciting to be a part of truly the renaissance taking place in the country involving manufacturing," says DMDII Executive Director Dean Bartles.
The digital manufacturing and design institute will officially be open for business this fall.
