Multiple crews battle fire in Beloit

UPDATE: People living a two-story apartment in Beloit now have to find a new place to live.

A fire broke out early this morning in an apartment at 1854 North Gate Avenue.

A woman living in that apartment called 911.  Fire crews say when they arrived they had to pull the building's alarm to evacuate the 24-unit building. No one was hurt.

The flames were contained to just one unit. However, there is smoke damage throughout the building making it unlivable. Estimated damages stand at $80,000.

The Red Cross will help people find somewhere else to stay. The fire department is still investigating the cause.
