Eastland-Pearl City eyes deeper playoff run

PEARL CITY (WREX) - Eastland-Pearl City won its first ten games last year before their season ended in the second round to Sterling Newman Central Catholic. The Wildcats are ready to prove that loss was no fluke. EPC returns a deep group of seniors that's continuing the tradition of taking the torch from the previous year's class and developing a team identity and chemistry.

"Every year a group of seniors goes out and a new group is ready to step up and I think that's a tribute to the seniors that do go out and the character that they have, and they show that and instill that upon the younger kids," says EPC head coach Randy Asche.

"Getting knocked out in the second round, that's definitely hard," says senior quarterback Deven Heeren. "You see Lena in our conference, they win state, so that makes us even more hungrier to go farther and maybe reach a state championship game you know, so we're definitely pushing harder this year."

Check back tonight after 13 News Weekend for the video preview of the EPC Wildcats.
