Dakota, Durand look to rebound in tough NUIC
Tuesday, August 19, 2014 9:48 PM EDT
By Derek Bayne
Dakota and Durand both had tough seasons in a tough conference last year. The two rivals look to bounce back this year.
Dakota has a new head coach, as Rick Schmitz takes over the program. The NIC-10 veteran looks to bring a new look to the team.
"I've been known as coach bipolar at times so I'm kind of a get after it type guy," Schmitz said. "They're starting to see a little more of that."
Dakota opens the season against South Beloit.
Just up the road in Durand, the Bulldogs look to rebound from a winless season. They're in Dennis Schwab's second year as a head coach, so the team seems more comfortable with his style.
"They really understand the overall technique this year," Schwab said. "They kind of understand the overall picture this year and how everything fits together."
Durand has a lot of players coming back. The Bulldogs open the season against Orangeville, August 29.
