Kids in the Rockford area turned "once upon a time" in to right here and now during Storybook Science at the Discovery Center Museum.
Children could choose to be their hero, a princess, a villain or beast by picking their favorite character from stories. And museum officials say there's science to be found in those stories.
"So we've got lots of hands-on science going on today. We've got Tom Sawyer floating boats with the kids. We've got the big bad wolf trying to blow down straw houses, stick houses and of course those brick houses, which don't seem to go down. We're playing with the science that's in all these great children's books that we all read when they were younger," says Michael Rathbun, Discovery Center associate director.
Storybook Science is sponsored in part by OSF Sain Anthony Medical Center, Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc., and a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
