Second suspect in Sterling hit-and-run arrested in Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (WREX) - A Rock Falls man -- wanted for attempted murder in a hit-and-run that injured a Sterling pedestrian -- was arrested in Corpus Christi, TX.

Sterling police announced 22-year-old Jorden Johnson was arrested by the Gulf Coast Fugitive and Violent Offenders Task Force two days after his counterpart, 19-year-old Dayton Hicks.

Both arrests happened in Corpus Christi after tips came in from police in Illinois.

A U.S. Marshal told a Corpus Christi station Johnson has ties to the Latin Kings gang, but did not say what his connection was to Texas.

Jacob Carr was found unresponsive in the 300 block of West Fifth Street at 12:30 a.m. on April 2. Police believe he could have been there for over an hour.

Carr was flown to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where he was listed in critical condition. He has since been released, but his family says his recovery has been slow.

Both Hicks and Johnson are being held on a $250,000 bond.
