NIU's Brown named to Biletnikoff Watch List

Posted:
DEKALB (WREX) -  Northern Illinois University wide receiver Da’Ron Brown was named to the 2014 Biletnikoff Award Watch List the Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc. announced today.

A second team All-MAC selection in 2013, Brown led the Huskies in receiving yards (752) on 46 receptions with nine receiving touchdowns, also a team high among Huskie wide receivers. The Chicago native also added 45 yards rushing on seven carries in 13 games.

He turned in the best game of his career against Ball State last year recording career highs in receptions with eight, including two touchdowns, and in receiving yards (209). Brown also caught a career-long pass of 58 yards against the Cardinals.

Brown is the second Huskie in as many days and the fourth Huskie overall named to a preseason watch list. Linebacker Jamaal Bass was named to the Rotary Lombardi Award July 14, Tommylee Lewis earned a spot on the Paul Hornung Award Watch List July 7 and tight end Luke Eakes was named to the Mackey Award Watch List July 8.

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver, not merely wide receiver.
