ROCK COUNTY (WREX) -

An accident investigation has led to the arrest of a woman who admitted to consuming alcohol while driving a car with six children in it.

Rock County Deputies responded to a minor accident at approximately 6:50 p.m. July 14. During the investigation it was discovered that one of the drivers, identified as Cassy Schyvinck-Samret, 30 of Janesville, was exhibiting signs of impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol, according to a news release from Rock County Sheriff Robert D. Spoden.

Field sobriety tests were performed and Schyvinck-Samret was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Present in the vehicle at the time of arrest were six children ranging in ages from 3-years-old to 8-years-old.

Two of the children were the driver's with the remaining four children in Schyvinck-Samret's care at the time, according to the news release.

The release says Schyvinck-Samret was issued citations for: operating while intoxicated (first offense) with passengers under 16 years of age, prohibited alcohol concentration (first offense) with passengers under 16 years of age; and operating without proof of insurance. Additional citations could result from further investigation into this matter.

The accident was minor and no injuries were reported. The accident occurred on W. STH 11 at the intersection of S. U.S. 51 in Rock Township.

The news release notes that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
