Three teenagers are in custody after an armed robbery at a popular Rockford restaurant.
According to the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to a call at Olympic Tavern on North Main Street at 1:15 this morning.
Results from the initial investigation say a male and female were in a car in the parking lot when they were approached by three suspects. One of the suspects ordered the woman out of the car and struck her in the face with an unknown object.
They then ordered the male driver out of the car. When he asked why they were doing this, he was struck in the face with a handgun. The suspects got in the car and left.
Not long after that, officers noticed the car near the intersection of Auburn and Irving. The suspects tried to evade police and led officers on a chase.
They were eventually stopped at Talcott Page Park, near Avon Street and Arthur Avenue.
The suspects -- an 18-year-old male and two 16-year-old males -- were arrested on the scene, and a rifle was taken from the vehicle.
Their identities and pictures have not been released because the investigation is ongoing.
