Newborn puppies abandoned in Rockford dumpster

ROCKFORD (WREX) - A litter of puppies is struggling to survive after they were found in a Rockford dumpster.

A man found the three puppies near an industrial park where he worked. He took them to Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary in Rockford where its animal hospital is working to keep the puppies alive.

Staff members believe the puppies are 2-day-old chihuahua's.

The animals aren't taking milk from a bottle so workers are hoping a foster dog can nurse the puppies as her own.

The shelter filed a report with the county in hopes of catching who dumped the puppies.
