CAPTURED: Rockford man in custody after 5 day manhunt

A Rockford man is now in police custody after a five day manhunt. Terence Doddy was arrest following a chase and a crash this morning. Doddy is wanted in connection to two murders.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department says a Rockton Police Officer spotted the car Doddy was driving at 10:12 a.m. Friday. The sheriff's department says the stolen gray 2013 Nissan Altima was found in the 12,000 block of Wagon Wheel Road.

The officer says the car was hidden in a wooded area behind the building and as the officer was waiting for back-up the vehicle drove off.

An Illinois State Trooper spotted the vehicle a short time later and a pursuit was started.

Illinois State Police, Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies and other law enforcement joined in a pursuit that at times reached speeds of 100 miles an hour.

The chase weaved into Wisconsin and returned to Illinois in the Shirland area. It then went back into Wisconsin where Beloit Police and Rock County Sheriff's Police joined in.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department says Doddy lost control on Highway 81 in Wisconsin just west of Beloit and hit a tree. There was then a short struggle and Doddy was taken into custody.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville for treatment.

Doddy will be transported first to the Rock County Jail before facing extradition. He is wanted on a Rockford murder warrant.

Doddy is accused of beating to death Todd Hansmeier in a Rockford business. Hansmeier's body was found June 30 after a fire was started inside an office in the company.

On Tuesday a body was found at a rest stop in Paw Paw off I-39. Illinois State Police call him a person of interest in the death of Tonya Bargman. The woman's car was taken from the rest stop and Hansmeier's car was found at the facility. Police had been searching for Bergman's gray Nissan with the plate “BARGMN2.” Doddy was found driving the vehicle. He is charged with first degree murder and faces other possible counts.
