Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies are searching for double murder suspect Terry Doddy after he was spotted in the area.Chief Deputy Dominic Iasparro said an off duty Winnebago County detective spotted Doddy driving the stolen Nissan Altima from the rest stop murder.  The gray Altima has an Illinois license plate BARGMN2.

The car was spotted at 7 p.m. Thursday headed north on N. Main Street in the area of Gleasman Rd, according to Iasparro.

"The detective spotted the vehicle, turned around to confirm that it was in fact the correct vehicle and it was," said Iasparro.  "The vehicle then accelerated at a very high rate of speed, drove recklessly in the oncoming traffic and was able to allude the officer at that point."

Law enforcement is conducting a search of the northern part of the county.
"This search is being coordinated this evening by the Sheriff's Department with the RPD, ISP and all surrounding law enforcement agencies have coordinated their efforts to search this area to see if  we can locate this vehicle and the suspect.  We'll continue with the search as long as it takes," said Iasparro.

Doddy is wanted in connection with the murder of 37 year-old Todd Hansmeier at a Rockford call center Monday morning.  The coroner said he'd been beaten in the head and neck, and his body was partially burned after being set on fire.  Firefighters discovered Hansmeier's body and alerted police.  Investigators said Doddy left QVSM in Hansmeier's car.  The car showed up at a second murder scene Tuesday night.

Illinois State Police said 44 year-old Tonya Bargman was killed at the Paw Paw rest stop off I-39 around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Troopers said Bargman was attacked by Doddy when leaving a restroom.  Her body was found by an attendant, troopers said.  Her Altima was missing.  Troopers believe Doddy is still in that vehicle.

Police said Doddy is considered extremely dangerous and people should stay clear of him if they see him.  Iasparro said the public should call their local law enforcement or 911 if they spot the vehicle or Doddy.

"The biggest fear is that we believe that he is a danger to the public. There's reason to believe that he's involved in two murders. So we're making an all out effort to try and locate him," said Iasparro.
