McKarns resigns from Rockford Speedway

MACHESNEY PARK (WREX) -  Rockford Speedway and the Big 8 Late Model Series announced today that Gregg McKarns has resigned from his position as general manager with the organization to explore new opportunities within the Short Track Auto Racing Industry.
“I am grateful for the opportunity the Deery Family provided me the past ten years,” McKarns said in a statement.  “I look forward to working with them on future projects while at the same time I am excited to see what new opportunities lie ahead for my family in racing.  The race teams and fans have been great and I will miss them the most.”
McKarns will remain involved with the Oktoberfest Race Weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway as well as the Midwest Racers’ Expo held each January.

“Rockford Speedway has a great history with much more to be written," McKarns said. "I am honored that I could play a small role in shaping that for a decade.”
Racing action resumes Wednesday night, followed by a Holiday Double Header on Friday and Saturday at Rockford Speedway.  The Big 8 Late Model Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet returns to action this Friday night at Dells Raceway Park.
