Police in Rockford are searching for two men involved in the late-morning, strong-armed robbery of a check cashing store on the city's northwest side.
According to the report, a female clerk was seated at her desk when two black males with ski masks entered the Check Into Cash store in the 3400 block of N. Main St. One of the men showed a weapon.
One of the men jumped the counter, dropped a blue bag in front of her and ordered her to fill up the bag with money.
The clerk complied, and gave them an undisclosed amount of cash.
That same man then ordered the clerk to go to the safe and open it. She could not due to a 15-minute delay mechanism that is programmed into the safe.
The manager of the store was in the bathroom at the time.
Both subjects fled the store, reportedly running north behind Doughboy Donuts.
The first subject is described as a black male in his 20's, 5'10", 200 pounds, wearing a black bandanna and black clothing.
The second subject is also said to be a black male in his 20's, but wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, and had the weapon.
Anyone with information on the incident or the men involved is asked to call the Rockford Police Department.
