Kraft Foods Group Inc. is recalling Velveeta cheese products from Walmarts in up to 12 states, mostly in the Midwest, because the cheese does not contain the proper amount of preservatives.
About 260 cases of Velveeta original pasteurized recipe cheese product are being recalled for insufficient levels of sorbic acid. That could cause the cheese to go bad prematurely or cause food-borne illnesses.
Kraft says the cheese was sent to three Walmart distribution centers and could have been shipped to Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Kraft says the code on the package is 021000611614.
