Name: Paige Himes High School: Dixon High School Favorite Teacher: Michelle Bally, who teaches Publications and freshman and junior English. Mrs. Bally has been a major part of my success in high school because she has taken the time to get to know me for more than just a student and always helped me improve my writing skills. Favorite Class: Spanish. For me, learning the language has been the most interesting and rewarding part of my high school career. I plan to continue studying Spanish in college and hope to someday be fluent. Lasting Memory of High School: Reporting to Mrs. Bally's Publications class each day after lunch, where my fellow students and I created the school newspaper and yearbook, truly changed my life. Not only did it teach me too many new things to count over my four years time, but it also helped me develop myself and my personality. Through Publications, I met most of my now closest friends, was able to exert my creativity in the projects I completed, and was forced to come out of my shell. Proudest Achievement(s): In high school, I was named the January Student of the Month and Co-Student of the Year, served as the Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook during my junior and senior years, and I took home the Team Spirit Award from my senior bowling banquet, an honor that was voted on an decided by my teammates and coaches. Plans for the Future: This coming fall, I will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I will major in English, and possibly Spanish as well, while working towards a minor in secondary education.
