Love locks bridge reopens in Paris

Tourists in Paris have returned to the bridge that suffered a partial collapse last week and the love locks are back.

The gate of the Pont des Arts Bridge over the Seine River is a romantic spot on its own.

But then you add a fad that started about ten years ago, smitten couples attached padlocks to the bridge as a symbol of locking away their love. The couples then throw the keys into the river.

Unfortunately that eternal love caused a portion of the historic bridge to collapse earlier this week from the weight of the locks.

The city patched the bridge and removed a large number of locks, but couples returned and attached so many new locks that the bridge is already in jeopardy again.
