UPDATE: Chrysler supplier worker pronounced dead after accident

Posted: Updated:
BELVIDERE (WREX) - The Winnebago County Coroner's Office said a man has been pronounced dead after a traumatic incident at a Chrysler supplier plant.

Chief Deputy Coroner William Hintz said he was contacted by staff from OSF St Anthony Medical Center reporting the death of 21 year-old Jacob Frisella, of Machesney Park.  Hintz said doctors pronounced Frisella died at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday.

Hintz said an autopsy is pending and that toxicology tests will be available in two weeks.

The Belvidere Police Department released a statement on the industrial accident.  A spokesperson said Frisella was working on a machine at the Ventra Assembly Plant Tuesday at 4 p.m. when he was critically hurt.  The release did not go into specifics about the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Belvidere Police and Fire Departments, as well as Lifeline Ambulance responded to the call.

The accident remains under investigation.

The accident caused the Belvidere Assembly plant to shut down production Tuesday night.

A Chrysler spokeswoman said Frisella was not a Chrysler employee, but production at the plant was temporarily suspended because of the incident.  Workers were sent home from their shift early.  The Belvidere Assembly was back operating Wednesday morning.
