Deputy Chief retires after 20-plus years

ROCKFORD (WREX) - After more than two decades at the Rockford Police Department, Deputy Chief Lori Sweeney is retiring.

A spokesman for the force says her retirement date is effective July 7.

Lt. Hoey said Sweeney rose through the ranks at the police department to become the first female deputy chief at the department.

Sweeney has led the field services division for the last several years.
