UPDATE: Road reopens after gas main rupture

ROCKFORD (WREX) - The Rockford Police Department said South Main Street, IL Route 2, is back open to all traffic after a gas main rupture.

The closure affected Route 2 between Montague and Marchesano for hours.

Police said construction crews struck a gas main earlier in the day, which required the road to be completely closed for several hours.  Detours were posted in the area during the closure.
