Rockford Health Physicians hosting free blood pressure screenings
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Rockford Health Physicians (RHPH) is recognizing the Measure Up/Pressure Down National Day of Action Thursday by giving free blood pressure screenings on Thursday, May 15.
The day is a three-year national campaign founded by the American Medical Group Foundation to raise awareness of the dangers of high blood pressure and encourage adults to monitor and control their blood pressure. RHPH is one of about 150 groups in the nation to participate this year.
Two screenings will be held Thursday. The first will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at RHPH, 2300 North Rockton Avenue, in the main lobby of Building 1. The second will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at RHPH, 3401 North Perryville Road, in the first floor lobby.
RHPH officials say high blood pressure is a leading risk factor for heart disease, kidney failure, stroke, and diabetes complications. Nearly one in three American adults suffer from the condition, with less than half having their high blood pressure under control.
