IDOT holds open house for construction project

ROCKFORD (WREX) - An 11-mile stretch of road dating back to 1925 between Byron and south Rockford is getting reconstructed. But not before the public give feedback.

IDOT held an open house for residents along IL. Rt. 2. It was a way to learn more about the proposed reconstruction which includes widening roads and repaving. The public forum is part of Illinois law called "context sensitive solutions". It includes early, continuous involvement from those who have used the road.

"We're looking for people that will work with us once a month to sit down with us and identify the problems, what they want to see and what is important to them in this corridor," said Massood Ahmad with IDOT. To learn more about the reconstruction from Illinois 72 to Beltline Rd. in south Rockford, tune in Saturday on 13 News weekend.
