UPDATE: Murder leads Rockford Police to stand-off with suspect

Update: The Winnebago County Coroner's Office released information about the homicide victim. They say investigation reveals Savannah Johnson had a possible gunshot and knife wound. An autopsy is pending. --- Previously:
An early morning murder sparks a six stand-off with Rockford Police on the city's southeast side. Rockford Police say around 3 a.m. Saturday they were called to a duplex in the 1014 15th Street near 9th Avenue. They were called after someone reported a gunshot. They found a Savannah Johnson dead in the home.
Detectives got an arrest warrant for her boyfriend Jamie Key, 26, who lived in the residence. When they went to arrest him investigators learned he was a few blocks away in an apartment near 8th street and 21st avenue.
When police tried to talk to him and ask him to surrender, he holed himself up in the building. A six hour stand-off then began with police until about 1:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Several streets in the area were shut down. Key eventually gave himself up and is now in police custody charged with attempt first degree murder.
