3 hurt in Rockford as vehicle flees shots fired

ROCKFORD (WREX) - Rockford police are investigating shots fired and a resulting traffic crash near Napoleon Street and North Main Street.

Police responded to 1020 North Main for a traffic crash around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found a Suzuki Grand Victoria against a tree, occupied by two females and a male. The individuals told police they were parked in the 300 block of Napoleon Street when an unknown vehicle drove up and fired several shots at their vehicle.

Police say the driver of the Suzuki then pulled away, accelerated while turning northbound onto North Main, lost control, and hit a tree. All three occupants were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver, 24-year-old Elizabeth White, was later charged with DUI.

Police found shell casings in the 300 block of Napoleon and are asking anyone with any information to contact them at 815-987-5824 or call CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867.
