Rockford church marks Good Friday with service

While many may be traveling for the Easter weekend, some Rockford churchgoers made time to stop at a Good Friday service here in town.

Court Street United Methodist held a service Friday morning to mark the somber holiday. Churchgoers reflected on the meaning of the Easter holiday, ending the service in silence.

"The idea is that we leave feeling meditative about that and about changing ourselves for the better and what we can to be better people in our community," church music director Julia Schade-Armstrong said.

The church will host two Easter services on Sunday, one at 6:00 a.m. and a more celebratory gathering at 10:00 a.m.
