Teen dies after jumping into Woodstock pond

A 15-year-old boy is dead after jumping into a residential pond in the 6100 block of Haligus Road in Woodstock.

Officials with the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and the Crystal Lake Fire Department were called to the home just after 9:00 p.m. Thursday for a rescue operation. Upon arrival, they learned the Crystal Lake teen was attending a party for a peer at the home.

Witnesses told officials the teen took off some of his clothing and jumped into the pond from a pier. When he didn't come back to the surface, partygoers called the fire department. No information was obtained indicating alcohol or drugs were a factor. There was also no indication of any other criminal activity.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department says they do not expect any arrests or criminal charges as a result of the incident.
