Toad Hall featured in American Dealers webisode

Saturday marks a major day for small businesses around the country. The clientele is fine-tuned and the product is sometimes outdated. But you can't deny there is a vinyl revival of sorts happening. Rockford's Toad Hall lets us in before Record Store Day to see what's spinning.

"So it's a huge impact on us as well as all the other record stores," said Nick Naruz, Owner and Manager of Toad Hall.

Eight to 10% of Toad Hall's annual revenue will come on Saturday. Two months of preparation including restocking, organization and event planning pays off according to Naruz..

"There's going to be a lot more room in the rack after Saturday."

This Record Store Day could draw a larger crowd. It coincides with the release of a webisode on the Rockford landmark. American Dealers just launched its web site this year with the goal of featuring stories of vintage and Americana dealers from across the country.

Toad Hall is the most recent story.

"You know, what we've done here to bring a local flavor to the area," said Naruz.

The 30 years Toad Hall has spent on Broadway far surpasses the seven, Record Store Day has been around. It's the longevity and the history at this location that keeps Toad Hall from uprooting to a more attractive area.

"We keep it here because if we were to move it, it would lose its charm. Toad Hall is this building, the story is here. You can't take this and put it into a strip mall, it's not going to translate. The history is here, the story is here. You've got to keep the stuff with the building, it's just part of it, it's the way it is."
