Carroll County officials confiscated three dogs from a home in rural Savanna and are looking for their owner, who they say is a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police received a report of four fighting dogs at a home in the 9800 block of Prairie Street, and executed a search warrant there on Wednesday. The home's owner, 28-year-old Brandon Popkins, was not home, but Carroll County Animal Control confiscated three dogs at the residence. However, police say those dogs did not appear to be fighting dogs. The fourth dog is believed to be with Popkins.
As a result of the search, police issued an arrest warrant for Popkins for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Anyone with any information on his whereabouts should call the Carroll County Sheriff's Office at 815-244-2635 or Carroll County Crime Stoppers at 815-244-STOP.
