Rockford Rescue Mission celebrates 50th year

The Rockford Rescue Mission is celebrating 50 years of service to the community.

In 2013 alone, the mission served 160,000 meals, provided over 58,000 beds, and distributed over 159,000 items. The mission believes its 50th year will have the same impact, if not more.

"With everything we do this year it's going to be about changing that next story, the next person that walks through the doors that has a story destined for devastation and destruction, we are going to do our best to change the ending to a story of hope," Rockford Rescue Mission Director of Development Chris Eldridge said.

The organization's official 50th anniversary is next month.
