Addison woman sentenced in son's stabbing

A 30-year-old Addison woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison for stabbing her then three-year-old son in the neck.

Sameera Samreen pleaded guilty to aggravated battery to a child in February and was sentenced Monday. A news release from the DuPage County state's attorney states she stabbed her son in the neck with a kitchen knife on March 31, 2012. The boy recovered from his injuries.

Samreen also cut her own throat and told police two masked men broke in and attacked both her and her son.

She will be eligible for parole after serving 85 percent of her seven-year sentence.
