An Illinois House committee is planning a daylong hearing on gambling expansion within the state of Illinois. The Executive Committee will meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bilandic Building in downtown Chicago and will focus on a plan by Rep. Bob Rita. The plan aims to create a large casino in Chicago, but none elsewhere.
The session will begin at 1 p.m. It will focus on Rita's alternative to build a smaller Chicago gambling house and four other scaled-back casinos in Winnebago, Vermilion, and Lake counties as well as in a south suburb of Chicago.
Rita has proposed alternative plans for new casinos in the state after two past proposals have failed to win approval from Gov. Pat Quinn.
