Behind the scenes at Rockford's 911 center

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

In an emergency, 911 can save a life. This week is telecommunications week, and 13 News got the chance to go behind the scenes at the 911 center in Rockford to see the people who help keep us safe.

"Sometimes you can come in and it could be a slow day, nothing could go on. The next day same situation but you get here and you are in the hot seat and its just one after another emergency after emergency and once you hang up you never know what your next call is going to be like. No matter how small the difference is that I'm making that day, I'm still making a difference," said Justin Anderson, 911 Center Shift Supervisor.

The 911 center reminds people in Rockford there is a non-emergency number for non-life threatening situations. That number is (815) 966-2900
