Chicago man arrested on drug charges in Rockford

A 27-year-old Chicago parolee faces several charges after his arrest in a Rockford Housing Authority residence.

The Rockford Police Department District Two Neighborhood Response Unit says it received complaints of narcotics being sold from a residence at Blackhawk Courts. After an investigation, police executed a search warrant at 1413 Garden Court at 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Police say they found suspected crack cocaine, cash, and other items associated with drug trafficking inside. They then arrested 27-year-old Roosevelt Washington of Chicago, who is on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections. He has been charged with the following:

  • Possession with intent to deliver 1-15 grams of cocaine
  • Possession with intent to deliver 2.5-10 grams of cannabis
  • No FOID
  • Attempted obstruction of identification
  • Outstanding unrelated Rockford failure to appear warrant
