This weekend not only marked the warmest Chicago has seen yet this year, it also marked the most violent.
Between Friday afternoon and Sunday night, Chicago's South and West sides saw four people fatally shot and over 30 wounded. The people killed include a 17-year-old girl, a 32-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, and a 34-year-old man. A 24-year-old mother of two was shot twice in the head; she's among the most seriously wounded.
When temperatures climb and more people venture outdoors, the number of shootings typically rise as well. This weekend marked the first in 2014 that the city reached 80 degrees.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting a steady climb in weekend shootings over the last four weekends.
