Rockford school helps student battle cancer

A Rockford boy battling cancer gets some help with his fight.

Marsh ELementary held a fundraiser for Joel sanchez-Lopez, who has leukemia. The third grader was diagnosed this past fall and the bills are starting to pile up for his family.

Students and staff at the school helped with a pasta dinner and every student made a piece of artwork to auction off for the cause.

"We've been through this before. We had Super Sofia that we lost last April and we found out about Joel in the fall," said  Kristine Leider, Marsh Elementary School Principal.

Joel travels to Madison with his family for his treatment.
