After thinking she was out of the running, it happened just like that.
"I was very surprised because I had it in my head that if I won they were going to come in in the morning, and then we went to lunch and I thought 'Well, I guess we didn't get it, but that's ok'," Ms. Carolyn Massier said. "So yes, I was very much surprised."
That was Massier's response after she earned the Golden Apple Award, LIVE, right here on 13 News. Her reaction said it all. As a second grade teacher, Ms. Massier says the process of earning the Golden Apple Award was the most rewarding.
"I knew it gave me an opportunity to speak about teaching and how wonderful it is and show what I do and to also have the kids show what they do and it was a really neat experience," she says.
Her passion for teaching started when she was a kid. While she tried different paths along the way she always came back to the classroom, a decision that's given her not only a golden reward, but a career she loves.
"This was really an exciting process, very rewarding for both myself and the kids," Ms. Massier said. "And it just was a neat opportunity to share what I do with the community and I couldn't be happier."
