ROCKFORD (WREX) -

A Rock Valley College Mass Communication student got top honors at the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts.

Tom Doherty's film The White Room not only received the Best of Festival award in the two year/small colleges category, it was also chosen as Best of the Best of the entire festival. The film is the first from a two-year school to get the honor.

The White Room is a psychological drama filmed entirely on Rock Valley's campus.

The festival is an international exhibition of student works in audio, documentary, interactive multimedia, news, scriptwriting, sports, and video. It received over 1,300 entries this year.
