Blackhawks recall Nordstrom with Toews out


The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs. Jonathan Toews will miss the remainder of the regular season.

Nordstrom, 22, has racked up 17 goals, 16 assists, and a plus/minus rating of +9 in 58 games for the IceHogs. His 17 tallies this season rank second on the team, behind Jeremy Morin's 24.

The Tyreso, Sweden native made his NHL debut in the Blackhawks 2013-14 season opener on Oct. 1 against Washington. Nordstrom has appeared in 10 games with the Blackhawks this season, recording a goal and an assist.

The 22 year-old was Chicago's third round pick (#90 overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Next Home Game: Friday, Apr. 11 vs. Milwaukee Admirals. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. The IceHogs return home after three games on the road, finishing their season series against the Admirals on Friday night.
