Former ISU president faces misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge

Just days after resigning his post as president at Illinois State University, Timothy Flanagan was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct for an altercation with a former employee.

Flanagan was charged Tuesday. He announced his immediate resignation Saturday after a former grounds crew employee accused him of assault during an argument over the care of Flanagan's yard.

Prosecutors said in a statement the former university president "yelled insults at the employee and continued to do so even while inches away from his face and flailing his arms around in a manner which alarmed and disturbed (the man)."

Flanagan previously denied he did anything wrong and his attorney, Stephanie Wong, says her review of the matter has her confident that's true. She declined to comment further.
