21-year-old Rockford woman killed in early morning crash


A Rockford woman is dead, and a neighborhood goes without electricity for hours after a car hits a utility pole and a vacant building.

It happened near the corner of Seminary and Catherine street around 2:00 Sunday morning.

The driver, 21-year-old Suaveya Williams died at the scene.  Her three teenage female passengers were also were injured in the crash, one of them seriously.

That section of road was closed for most of the day as investigators try to understand what happened. And crews work to restore power to nearby homes.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
