The opportunity to learn and support. That's what brought hundreds of Rockford community members together Saturday afternoon. Heartland Church hosts the 2014 Epilepsy Walk, to spread awareness about the disorder affecting nearly one in 25 people. Across the nation around 1 million other participants are walking as well. This event hopes to make strides in support for epilepsy by teaching people what to look for.
"If they witness someone having a seizure out in the community, out at the mall, out at church we want them to learn how to help someone who is having a seizure." -says Epilepsy Foundation Communications Director Benjamin Slack.
The Epilepsy Foundation also uses this event to hand out a perseverance award.
