Rockford's Brookview Elementary hosts reading week Seuss-style

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

A Rockford elementary school is promoting literacy in the style of one of the world's favorite authors.

Brookview Elementary's reading week was Dr. Seuss-themed. Thursday marked the last day and parents and community members were invited to a Dr. Seuss Cafe event where they read students their favorite Seuss books.

"It encourages reading in a really fun environment," Brookview's Michele Larson said of the event.

She added the week also helped to encourage kids to read together.
