Freeport school faces sanctions, explores restructuring options

The way students learn could look a lot different next school year for at least one Freeport school.

Carl Sandburg Middle School faced sanctions from not meeting No Child Left Behind Act standards.

Board members are expected to vote soon to restructure the school curriculum.

It'll be using a personalized mastery program. It makes sure each individual student masters a section before moving on.

The districts other options were closing the school, replacing all staff and faculty or contracting someone new to run the school.
