Rockford man arrested for selling cocaine near a church

A 29-year-old Rockford man faces charges after members of the Rockford Narcotics Unit received information about an individual selling crack cocaine on the city's west side.

Police say investigation showed the suspect in question was Andre Richardson, who is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Richardson was taken into custody on Tuesday by detectives with the Rockford Narcotics Unit, Drug Enforcement Administration, and officers assigned to the Community Services Unit in a business parking lot in the 3900 block of West Riverside.

Richardson faces the following charges:

  • 2 counts delivery 1-15 grams of cocaine
  • 1 count delivery 1-15 grams of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church

He is currently lodged in the Winnebago County Jail without bond.
