The Beloit Police Department has identified the people involved in an early Sunday morning car crash that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.
Police say 22-year-old Adrain R. Taylor of Beloit was behind the wheel when officers tried to pull him over for speeding on 4th Street, just south of Portland Avenue. Officers say instead of stopping, Taylor sped up and continued speeding down Roosevelt Avenue, failed to stop at a stop sign, and struck another vehicle.
Taylor's vehicle then went on to hit a utility pole, cutting the car in half. Both he and his passenger, 22-year-old Special Tume M. Davidson of Beloit were ejected from the car. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The crash is still under investigation.
