Over 270 ticketed during University of Illinois' "Unofficial"

A total of 271 tickets were issued during the annual Unofficial St. Patrick's Day Celebration held by students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Most of the orders to appear in court were due to underage drinking or public possession of alcohol. Fifteen people were taken to the county jail and nearly 30 taken to local hospitals via ambulance. Thousands of students took part in the annual all-day drinking event.

This year, bar hours and the amount of alcohol that could be sold near campus were limited by the city. The entry age for people to get into bars was also limited, as in previous years.
